Elaine Perignat, PhD

Fostering creativity: How teachers’ classroom behaviors can influence student creativity development

Dr. Elaine Perignat is a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in the College of Arts and Sciences at Drexel University. She earned her PhD in Educational Leadership and Learning Technologies with a concentration in STEM Education. Elaine also holds a Master's degree in Education from Temple University and a BSBA from the University of Pittsburgh. Her broader research interests focus on Creativity (specifically, creative pedagogies and student creativity development), Interdisciplinary Education, and Arts-Integrated Learning. Elaine has successfully published several articles on creativity and arts-integration in STEM learning; and she has over 15 years of experience in developing and teaching interdisciplinary courses for undergraduate and graduate STEM students. And she is currently helping to design a new Graduate Minor at Drexel that emphasizes creative problem-solving through interdisciplinary team-based research.

Tamara Galoyan, PhD

Multidisciplinary Investigation into Neurocognitive Basis of Problem Solving Transfer and Implications for Pedagogy: A Mixed-Methods Study

Dr. Tamara Galoyan is a postdoctoral scholar in the School of Education at Drexel University. She earned her PhD in Educational Leadership and Learning Technologies. She is also a co-founders of E-LaBS (Education, Learning, and Brain Sciences) research lab, and a co-founding editor of EViE (Emerging Voices in Education) journal at Drexel’s School of Education. Tamara holds a Master's degree in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) from the American University of Armenia and a Master's degree in Linguistics from the Yerevan State Linguistic University. Her broader research interests focus on the neurocognitive, behavioral, and social factors affecting learning, problem solving, retention, and transfer of learning across different instructional modalities, including onsite, online and blended learning environments. Tamara has a decade of experience in teaching English as a Foreign Language to adult learners and college students of diverse backgrounds both in Armenia and the US. She has also been involved in online, blended, and onsite course development, assessment and testing, curriculum design, training and mentoring.

Kristen Betts, EdD

Clinical Professor
School of Education

Dr. Kristen Betts is a Clinical Professor in the School of Education at Drexel University. Dr. Betts has 20 years of experience in higher education serving in key leadership positions within private, public, and for-profit institutions. Dr. Betts’ expertise is in online and blended learning, curriculum and instructional design, and evaluation. Her research focus is on Mind, Brain, and Education science, Brain-Targeted Teaching, Online Human Touch/high touch, student/faculty retention, and faculty development. Dr. Betts is a Fulbright Specialist, Quality Matters peer reviewer, and an instructor with the Online Learning Consortium certificate programs. Dr. Betts is a grant reviewer for the Hong Kong Grants Council and has been a reviewer for 13 journals and publishing companies. Dr. Betts has also been a keynote speaker at conferences and government-supported events in Sweden, South Korea, Canada, and across the United States.
