11:30 AM-1:00 PM
Join us for this annual tradition to commemorate Veterans
Day. Enjoy refreshments beginning at
11:30am, followed by a formal program from noon to 1:00pm. Join the
University’s veteran community in commemorating Veterans Day with a special focus
on our military-connected faculty and professional staff who have served their
country and join their Veterans Task Force colleagues in fostering a military
friendly campus community. Guests are also
encouraged to visit the adjacent Rincliffe Gallery featuring Building
Men: Philadelphia College Students as
World War I Military Engineers. This exhibit explores the unique role of Army
engineers during World War I, focusing on college-aged students in Philadelphia
and institutions like Drexel, that played a role in supporting the war effort,
especially Corporal Edward Shenton (1895-1977), an aspiring artist, who
enlisted in the Army at 21, as a student at Pennsylvania Museum and School of
Industrial Art. Lynn Clouser Waddell, executive director of University
Collections & Exhibitions will be available for tours and commentary about the
exhibit.
This formal event will be streamed live at noon.
