Learning Objectives

  • Describe the COVID-19 epidemiologic trends in transmission, testing, and mortality observed in southern Africa since the beginning of the pandemic
  • Identify the socio-cultural factors, population health metrics, and public health interventions influencing epidemiologic trends in COVID-19 disease throughout southern Africa
  • Discuss how the COVID-19 response has affected surveillance, prevention and control of other endemic diseases in southern African and how lessons learned thus far in the pandemic can help define future goals for global health
