Ask D'Andre a Question
When did you become interested in Engineering?
I became interested in Engineering at the age of 17, much later than most. I have always loved math, and science but never thought of becoming an engineer. I was interested in becoming a scientist more specifically a geologist or vulcanologist for I had a love for any earth related topics. One day I was sitting with a friend who was interested in engineering and told me why I don't look into it. I did just so, and fast forward a few years later, I am now pursuing my masters in mechanical engineering.
What are your career plans?
Upon completing my graduate degree, I intend to pursue a career in the energy sector, focusing on areas such as carbon capture and storage, renewable energy development, and hydropower systems. I am also interested in leveraging my skills as a systems engineer to design, optimize, and integrate complex energy technologies that contribute to a more sustainable future.
What made you choose Drexel’s Graduate School?
I choose Drexel Graduate School for their Co-op program. It is highly ranked nationally, and there is a great placement outcome. Furthermore, I've wanted to live in a city that in the northeast, with accessible public transportation system to be nearer to my family.
What extracurricular activities do you enjoy?
On my spare time, I like to stay active, so going to the gym and getting a lift in or playing basketball or going for a walk on the Schuylkill trail. I am an avid sports enthusiast (does not matter the sport), so I most time be watching a sporting event as well.
What advice would you give prospective students thinking of attending graduate school?
My advice would be to thoroughly do your research. Look into programs that interest you and have shown results. Never be afraid to ask questions and gain insight. Network with individuals, be open-minded.
