The Chemical and Biological Engineering Department and student chapter of AICHE are partnering to implement an alumni-mentoring program.
Over the course of the year, chemical engineering alumni will visit campus to offer their professional expertise to undergraduate students in a lecture series. Presentation topics may cover particular fields such as:
- Renewable energies: wind, solar, biomass, geothermal, tidal, etc.
- Pharmaceuticals: drug delivery, drug design
- Petrochemicals: gas/oil/coal for energy production, petrochemical products for various consumer applications
- Process oriented: Reaction engineering (process modeling), plant design (FEED and the like), process design (specific elements in a plant), transport phenomena (mass, fluid, heat flows applied to large scale processes)
Other alumni will offer more general advice to students such as:
- Entrepreneurial advice: developing a start-up, examples of a successful business models, economic analysis of plants and processes
- Exploration of nonstandard chemical engineering fields, and alternate career paths
If you are an interested alumnus of Drexel's Chemical Engineering Department and would like to give a presentation to our undergraduate students, please contact Andrea Falcone at 215-895-2227 or amf369@drexel.edu.
