Saturday, May 10, the College of Computing & Informatics (CCI) at Drexel University hosted the Philly Codefest: High School Edition, bringing together 35 enthusiastic young coders for a day of innovation, collaboration and creativity.
The participants, including three incoming CCI first-year students, contributed to a total of 10 impressive project submissions. In line with CCI's annual college-level hackathon, the event challenged students to develop tech solutions with real-world impact, judged on four key criteria: social impact, creativity and innovation, functionality and presentation quality.
Top honors went to the following teams:
- 1st Place: Allergy Aid – This standout project not only earned the team Drexel swag bags but also awarded them free tuition to this summer's Drexel Digital Development Camp – VirtuaQuest, open to rising high school sophomores, juniors, seniors and accepted CCI first-year students.
- 2nd Place: College Board Super Study
- 3rd Place: Green Bike
All winning teams received Drexel swag bags in recognition of their hard work and ingenuity.
With projects ranging from health tech to sustainability, Philly Codefest: High School Edition not only showcased the brilliance of today’s young minds — it also set the stage for even greater innovation in the years to come.
