Requirements for International Applicants to Master's or Certificate Programs

English Proficiency Requirements for Graduate Programs

In addition to basic admissions requirements for their desired master's or certificate program, international students are required to demonstrate English language proficiency by submitting scores from one of the below unless they meet the criteria for a waiver.

CCI accepts the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), International English Language Testing System (IELTS), Duolingo English Test (DET), and Cambridge English Exam.

The College of Computing and Informatics looks for the following minimum scores for the best chance of admission to our graduate programs.

  • TOEFL: 90
  • IELTS: 6.5
  • Duolingo English Test: 110
  • (Effective Winter 2024) Duolingo English Test: 115
  • Cambridge English Exam: C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency

Note: I-20 form and accompanying bank documents are required for student matriculation.
