Meet the Author: Jill Sweeney

Hello! My name is Jill Sweeney, and I've been part of Drexel's undergraduate admissions team since 2016. During my time at Drexel, I've primarily worked with students from the New England region, though I've been fortunate enough to travel across the United States and as far as China, Mexico, Brazil, and India to meet future Dragons.

I earned my bachelor's degree in history from Loyola University Maryland, where I was a member of Student Government, studied abroad in Copenhagen, and served as a tour guide. College was a pivotal time in my life, and I loved having the opportunity to connect with prospective students to share my experiences with them. After graduation, I realized I had a passion for education and admissions and, as a proud "Delco" native, was excited to have the opportunity to come back to Philly and join the Dragon family.

While I've done my fair share of travel during my time at Drexel, I also love to travel outside of admissions. My goal is to visit every continent and all 50 states, and so far, I've been to 25 countries and 33 states!  I'm also a big fan of theme parks and recently achieved the milestone of having travelled to every Disney theme park around the world. When I'm not traveling, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.

As a first-generation college student and the oldest child, the college search process was new for me and my family — I was the proverbial guinea pig! My mailbox was filled with brochures and postcards from schools across the country, I was stressing over the SAT, and each week my parents and I drove somewhere new to visit. I remember being a bit overwhelmed by the possibilities! Fortunately, we had a lot of people — college counselors, admissions representatives, and family friends — helping us along the way. I'm so glad to be in a role where I can pay it forward and help other students find their perfect fit!
