International Travel Advisory - Spring 2026

As Spring Break approaches, we encourage international students and scholars to carefully consider any plans for international travel. Immigration, safety, and security developments may affect international travel and re-entry into the United States.

While ISSS does not prohibit international travel, we strongly advise you to exercise caution when making international travel plans. Immigration regulations and government policies can change with little notice. New policies or travel restrictions could be implemented while you are outside of the United States, and such changes may affect your ability to re-enter the country to continue your academic program or employment. There are also travel and visa application disruptions due to instability spreading across the Middle East.

If you determine that international travel is necessary, please make sure you are fully prepared before departing the United States. You should review ISSS travel guidance and confirm that you have all required immigration and travel documents needed for re-entry.

Note: If you do not have a valid visa and will need to apply for a new one before returning to the U.S, please contact ISSS immediately and do not depart the U.S. before consulting with our office.

Students, scholars and employees from travel ban countries

If you are a national of one of the countries from the Presidential Proclamation Limiting the Entry Into the U.S., you should not depart the U.S. before consulting with ISSS Regardless of whether you have a valid visa or not.

Arriving at U.S. Port of Entry

Because entry into the United States is ultimately determined by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the port of entry, you should be prepared for possible additional screening or questioning upon arrival. When entering the U.S., the U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer may also request to review your electronic devices, including your social media. For more information, please consult the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website.

We strongly encourage you to review the most recent visa and travel alerts from Klasko Immigration Partners: https://www.klaskolaw.com/middle-east-visa-and-travel-alert/
