Visa Renewal
Individuals whose visas have expired are required to renew their visa prior to re-entry to the US (except for visa-exempt nationals, including Canadian and Bermudan passport-holders). The Department of State's Global Visa Wait Times page contains information about the wait times for visa appointments at different posts. Please note that some individuals may be subject to additional background checks or administrative processing when applying for a visa renewal, and therefore should factor these risks and potential wait times into their travel plans.
For more information on visa renewals and potential exceptions, visit our Visa Renewal webpage.
