USCIS Announces Increase of Certain Immigration Fees
Effective April 1, 2024, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will increase certain immigration and naturalization benefit request fees. Most notably, the I-765 Application for Employment Authorization will increase from $410 to $470 for online filing applications. For paper-based I-765 applications, the fee will increase to $520. Students applying for OPT and STEM OPT are required to pay the I-765 fee with each OPT/STEM OPT application they submit to USCIS.

Additionally, the USCIS will make the following two changes for premium processing applications effectively February 26, 2024:
- The premium processing time frame will lengthen from 15 calendar to 15 business days. This change will prolong premium processing adjudications by one week or more, depending on the case type.
- The premium processing fees will increase by just over 12 percent. Most notably, the I-765, Application for Employment Authorization (F-1 OPT/STEM OPT) fee will increase from $1,500 to $1,685.
