Neisha Young is a doctoral student in Drexel University’s PhD in Education program. She also serves as a Graduate Research Assistant in the ILLEST Lab and the Lisa and John McNichol Early Childhood Education Lab. Her research interests center around exploring and improving the educational experiences and outcomes for immigrant students and teachers within the US public education system. She hopes to leverage policy and curriculum to reshape perception and cultivate a greater sense of equity.
Neisha grew up in Jamaica where she taught high school for four years before moving to the USA. She continued her teaching career in the United States, operating in various teaching and leadership roles in school districts in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She holds a BA in English from Georgia State University, and an MA in English from Southern New Hampshire University. She also has teaching credentials from her tenure at Shortwood Teachers’ College in Jamaica.
