Moving Back to Campus? Here’s What’s Open for Winter Term (and When)

As Drexel welcomes students back for campus living starting Jan. 16 and some in-person classes starting Jan. 25, several campus locations and services will also open their doors in continuation of or in addition to what they offered during the fall term.
Here’s what you need to know if you’ll be living on, near or frequenting campus this winter term:
Drexel University bus service along the Dragon Route (Center City Loop), Queen Lane Route (East Falls Loop) and Powelton/Spring Garden Route will run on modified schedules and with health protocols in place starting Jan. 4. You can view the schedules via PDF on the Campus Bus Service website.
The Drexel University Libraries reopened some spaces in the W. W. Hagerty Library in University City and the Hahnemann Library in Center City on Jan. 18 for modified on-campus services. The Libraries will continue to provide remote services and resources to support Drexel students, faculty, and staff with their research and coursework.

What’s New for Winter 2021
The Drexel Libraries continues to expand its on-campus services for winter 2021 and will offer the following services starting Jan. 18 when its physical locations reopen:
Printing & Scanning
- Mobile printing services: The Libraries’ new mobile printing service allows students to print from a laptop, smart phone or other mobile device directly to a printer at the W. W. Hagerty Library. Learn more by visiting the “Access On-Campus Learning Environments” section of their COVID-19 website.
- Scanning: Scanning services are now available in the W. W. Hagerty Library.
Computing & Technology
- Reserve a computer workstation: Computer Lab L14 (located on the Lower Level of the W. W. Hagerty Library) is available for student use in winter 2021. Students must reserve a workstation in advance using the LibCal reservation system. Group work is not permitted in the computer lab or in any Libraries spaces at this time.
Accessing Physical Materials
- Browse the stacks: The Libraries will reopen its physical collections in the W. W. Hagerty Library for browsing and check out starting on Jan. 18. Items will be quarantined between each use. As a reminder, digitization and delivery services are also available.
Expanded Seat Reservation System
- The Libraries expanded its reservation system in collaboration with Drexel University Facilities, College of Engineering, and Westphal College of Media Arts & Design to include 300 additional seats in study rooms across the University City campus to support individual and group work.

Reserve a Seat to Study and Work in the Libraries’ Informal Learning Environments
- Students must reserve a seat in advance using the LibCal Seats online reservation system.

Access Physical Materials
- The Libraries continues to offer the following services to provide access to physical materials:
- Contactless pickup of physical materials
- Shipping of physical materials to confirmed addresses

Utilize Remote Services & Resources
- Access the Libraries’ authoritative online information resources, including journal articles, eBooks, databases, and streaming videos, any time, anywhere

All student centers on campus will open for winter term, though on different timelines and holding different hours of operation:
- Open on: Jan. 16–17
- Modified hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Modified hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Regular Hours (starting Jan. 18): Monday–Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Korman Center
- Open on: Jan. 25
- Hours: Monday–Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
James E. Marks Intercultural Center
Perelman Center for Jewish Life
Rush Building
- Open on: Jan. 25
- Modified hours: Monday–Friday, 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. (by appointment only)
- Regular hours (starting Feb. 1):
- Monday–Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Sunday, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Drexel Barnes and Noble Bookstores will be open during the winter term and all stores will adhere to new guidelines with everyone’s safety in mind. Free ground shipping on orders of $49 or more is available. Please continue to order textbooks and other course material through the website drexel.bncollege.com to minimize waiting in checkout lines.

DragonCard Office: A DragonCard will be required to access all buildings on campus. Your DragonCard pick-up will need to be scheduled and new photo uploaded in advance.
Visit the Business Services COVID-19 Operations site and follow the appropriate process based on your status to schedule the pick-up of your DragonCard.
Hours of Operation:
- University City (Creese Student Center): Monday–Thursday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Center City (New College Building): Monday–Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Queen Lane (inside Barnes and Noble): Tuesday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Drexel Campus Dining: Drexel Campus Dining is happy to announce several locations will be open for winter term with abundant choices of hot, healthy vegetarian and vegan options. Full offerings for winter term begin on Jan. 17. Order-ahead through the GET App will also be available in most locations.
- New this term, the Urban Eatery will offer all-you-care-to-eat dining in addition to current favorites like Java City® coffee and pastries at Downtown Grounds and a gourmet vegan/vegetarian lineup at U.C. Veg, with a newly added salad bar. Additional options will include made-to-order sandwiches, panini and pizza; and a grill boasting a rotating variety of classics. All of this will be available with single entry, seven days a week.
- The Handschumacher Dining Center will provide order-ahead options Monday through Friday.
- Northside Dining Terrace will feature Chick-fil-A® (open Jan. 20) and the Market convenience store, and will also remain open throughout the term. The Market will be open seven days a week, and will continue to offer a robust assortment of grab-and-go items from Good Uncle.
- As part of this collaboration, the Good Uncle Food Truck will also be on campus on Saturday and Sunday evenings throughout the term, beginning Jan. 16.
- ThirtyOne41 café in Main Building will now feature coffee and espresso beverages by La Colombe.
- Dining Dollars, cash, and credit will be accepted at all of the above locations.
The safety and well-being of the Drexel community are University food services partner Aramark’s top priorities. In addition to long-established food safety processes and protocols, they are being extra vigilant and intensifying preventative measures within our operations, including implementing enhanced sanitation and hygiene practices.

Drexel Parking Services: All permit parking fees for active and registered students are suspended through March 30, 2021. To register for a $0 permit, log into the ParkDrexel portal with your Drexel Connect credentials. All on-campus parking terms and conditions remain applicable.

Drexel Central's office will reopen for current students on Jan. 25.
Hours for winter term are:
- Weeks 3 and 4 (Jan. 25–31 and Feb. 1–7)

Drexel Central's phone operations will remain the same for the winter term.

Academic and Student Support Services
Center for Learning and Academic Success Services (CLASS): CLASS will continue with remote services through the winter term. Virtual Peer and Professional Academic Coaching will be available to all students by appointment. Tutoring for the College of Nursing and Health Professions, the Dornsife School of Public Health and the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Professional Studies will also continue online by appointment.

Drexel Writing Center: For the winter term, the Writing Center will offer online appointments only. Please contact the operations manager with any questions or concerns about making appointments at dwc@drexel.edu.
Math Resource Center: Math Resource Center tutoring will remain remote for winter term. Tutoring hours are:
- Monday–Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
International Students and Scholars Services (ISSS): Through Jan. 22, all ISSS operations will continue to be entirely virtual. Students can schedule an appointment with an International Student Advisor via the My Success Team channel in DrexelOne.
Starting Jan. 25, ISSS plans to open for document drop off and pick up only during following days/times:
- Monday–Tuesday, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Thursday–Friday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
There will be no in-person meetings or appointments. Those, as well as all other ISSS services, will remain virtual. Please note that this a tentative schedule subject to change. For the most current ISSS schedule, check their website.
Center for Inclusive Education and Scholarship (CIES): The Center for Inclusive Education & Scholarship is planning to have limited open hours during the winter term. Students affiliated with the center will receive more information in the coming weeks through the CIES weekly newsletter. If you have questions, feel free to reach out to the center at iedscholar@drexel.edu.
As in fall term, The Drexel Student Health Center will be open for students to make appointments during the winter term by calling 215.220.4700. Telemedicine appointments are also available due to the pandemic. Telemedicine is a simple way for patients to be treated by their provider by use of secure, HIPAA-compliant videoconferencing technology without an in-person visit.
Students who test positive for COVID-19 or believe they have come in contact with someone who tested positive should also contact the Student Health Center promptly to enact important health and safety measures and prevent the spread of the virus within our community.
The Drexel Student Health Center is located with the University City Science Center at 3401 Market St., Suite 105B. The entrance on 34th Street across from the Daskalakis Athletic Center.
Hours of operation for the Student Health Center this term are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday, 10:30 a.m.–7 p.m.
Through Jan. 15, the Counseling Center is pleased to offer same-day appointments. This means students will be able to talk to a therapist the same day they seek help. The Center has a large number of openings for students to schedule with one of their clinicians. To schedule a same-day appointment, email the Counseling Center at counseling@drexel.edu between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday–Friday. They will attempt to schedule you for the same day, but depending on availability you may be not be seen until the following business day.
Please note that this change in service does not affect students' ability to reach the counselor-on-call in the event of an emergency after hours or on the weekend. Students may still call After-Hours Emergency On-Call: 215.416.3337; Public Safety: 215.895.2222; or Dial 9-1-1.
The Counseling Center will resume scheduling triage appointments on Jan. 18 for students who would like to begin teletherapy. Triage appointments are brief consultations with a clinician to talk about what students are looking for.
Students who are already receiving care at the Counseling Center are welcome to schedule same day appointments as needed or can schedule starting Jan. 18 for ongoing care.
Customizable care plans are available to meet student needs. Reach out to the counseling center at counseling@drexel.edu to get started. Students are also encouraged to utilize resources like the Counseling Center’s library of self-help resources, to sign up for Drexel’s 7 Cups program, and to attend wellness workshops throughout the term.
The Rec Center will be open for in-person use starting Jan. 25 for those on campus. For those who plan to visit, take note of all COVID-19 policies outlined here.
Students can also access Virtual Rec Center offerings from wherever they are.

Drexel Business Services is in close contact with the private retail and dining establishments who operate on and near the University City campus.
