I volunteered with the Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children (FIMRC) during the summer of 2020 and was asked to create educational health campaigns for Barangay health workers (BHWs) to improve rural community health in the Cavite province. Through this experience, the significant health disparities between rural and urban regions of the Philippines were illuminated for me. They are considered to be the major weakness of the Filipino health care system.
