  • Opportunity for Law Students: Voter Protection Work This November

As we approach the November elections, there’s a fantastic opportunity for law students to get involved in voter protection efforts. Dean Frankel has been in touch with the Pennsylvania Democratic Party, and they are eager to have law students assist with voter protection, both on Election Day and in the days leading up to it.

For those who prefer a non-partisan role, there are also options available that don't require direct involvement with a campaign or political party.

If you’re interested or want more information, please reach out to Dean Frankel at rhf24@drexel.edu. He will connect you with the appropriate contacts.

  • Join the SBA Mentoring Program: Sign Up Now!

The SBA Mentoring Program is now open for sign-ups for the upcoming school year, and we invite all interested students to participate!

The deadline to sign up for the SBA Mentoring Program is Sunday, September 15th, 2024. This program pairs incoming 1Ls with experienced upperclassmen to provide guidance and support throughout their first year.

This program aims to connect incoming 1Ls (both traditional and summer start) with experienced upperclassmen who can offer valuable guidance and support. Navigating the first year of law school can be challenging, and having a mentor who has been through similar experiences can make a significant difference. We strive to match mentors and mentees based on shared interests, career goals, and backgrounds to enhance the support network within our diverse community.

We are particularly eager to engage rising 2Ls and 3Ls as mentors to help guide our new students through their initial year.

To sign up as either a mentor or mentee, please click here.

If you have any questions or need further information, feel free to reach out to Sam Marranca at slm464@drexel.edu.

Thank you for your participation and support!

  • Presentations for Department of Justice’s Honors Program, Summer Law Internship Program (SLIP), and Tax Division

You're invited to join the Division for a virtual presentation on the Department of Justice’s Honors Program and Summer Law Internship Program (SLIP) positions.

You're invited to join the Division for a virtual presentation on the Department of Justice’s Honors Program and Summer Law Internship Program  (SLIP) positions.

During the presentation, DOJ members will discuss tips for applying to Honors Program and SLIP positions and the Tax Division generally—which is one of the best-kept secrets in the Department. For example, the Tax Division was the second highest ranked  organization within the Department of Justice in the 2023 Best Places to Work in the Federal Government Rankings. Our advice is likely to be useful in applying to other DOJ components through the Honors Program, too.

Tax courses or experience are NOT required! The Tax Division, primarily located in Washington, D.C., represents the United States in criminal and civil litigation around the country. Tax Division attorneys are immediately assigned cases and given hands-on litigation opportunities that are virtually unmatched in other private or public sector roles. We strive to build a collegial working environment that reflects the diversity of America, and we welcome applications from candidates of every background.

We will present four sessions in August, before the SLIP and Honors Program applications are due on Tuesday, September 3. All law students are welcome to attend any of these presentations (and the presentations will all cover the same content). The information for joining each presentation is below.

Information for Joining the Tax Division’s Presentations

The presentation will take place on DOJ’s virtual WebEx platform. You can also join by phone by calling 415-527-5035 and entering the meeting passcode. No need to RSVP, just show up.

  • Spring 2025 Schedule

We are happy to provide you with early notice of the Spring 2025 schedule! We hope this will help you to identify any conflicts that may affect how you move forward with the Fall while there is still time to add and drop.

We are happy to provide you with early notice of the Spring 2025 schedule! We hope this will help you to identify any conflicts that may affect how you move forward with the Fall while there is still time to add and drop.

The full schedule with credits, notes, and descriptions is available on the University’s Term Master Schedule. You can view the visual grid version of the schedule, as well as the Spring exam schedule, on DragonNet.

Please do review all notes. For instance, there are several courses that meet for less time than their credits would suggest (e.g., 4-credit Business Organizations meeting about 3 hours per week) because that time is added to the out-of-class work in the form of problem sets, simulations, and other assignments. In these cases, you will see a note under Section Comments that says “Substantial asynchronous work required.”

Course registration for Spring 2025 will take place in October, and we will send more detailed information about dates and processes closer to that time.
