  • Class of 2023 – New Jersey Clerkship Portal Opens on Monday, June 20

    Starting on Monday, June 20, 2022, 2L students will have the opportunity to begin applying for law clerk positions in New Jersey for the 2023-2024 court term.

    Starting on Monday, June 20, 2022, 2L students will have the opportunity to begin applying for law clerk positions in New Jersey for the 2023-2024 court term. Justices and Judges may begin scheduling interviews and making offers of employment no earlier than 12:00pm on Monday, June 27, 2022. To begin, interested students can register and build their profile by visiting www.njcourts.gov and navigating to the Law Clerk Recruitment page. Students may click the “Clerkships for 2022-2023 Term” button and either create a “New User Registration” or if they have an account, sign in by clicking the “Existing User Login.” Please note that the portal will be closed to all external users for maintenance beginning May 23, 2022.

    • Clerkships are for everyone – apply for clerkships regardless of your GPA. Each judge has their own hiring credentials and GPA is only one factor considered.
    • Apply broadly – you do not have to take the bar in the same state where you clerk.
    • Our alumni clerks have gone on to positions in everything from large firms to government to public interest to policy. Clerking makes you a better lawyer.
    • NJ judges generally hire earlier than PA. There are also more positions in NJ. This means you may have a position lined up early in your 3L year.

    2022 Ms. JD Fellowship

    The Ms. JD Fellowship application is now open to second-year law students. This one-year program is designed to foster a commitment to excellence in a new generation of women attorneys, inspired by the generation of trailblazers who paved the way for their success. It is an opportunity to develop new skills, grow your network, and learn how to build and develop your personal brand.

    Each Fellowship recipient is paired with a mentor chosen from among the Brent Award honorees, Spirit of Excellence Award recipients, and ABA Commission on Women in the Profession Commissioners. Accepted Fellows also receive invitations and financial support to attend ABA and Ms. JD events, specifically Ms. JD’s annual conference and the ABA’s annual meeting.

    2022 Ms. JD Public Interest Scholarship

    The Ms. JD Public Interest Scholarship program provides a stipend to students as they pursue careers in public interest law. Current law students entering their second or third year at an ABA-accredited U.S. law school by the summer of 2022 are eligible to apply now.

    Former public interest scholarship award recipients have pursued internships in immigration law, women’s rights, public health, public defense, government at all levels, and criminal justice reform.

    Students can apply now on the Ms. JD Public Interest website. The deadline to submit an application is May 23, 2022.

  • Cozen O'Connor Needs Mock Jurors

    Cozen O’Connor is looking for students to serve as “jurors” on Friday, June 10th from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in Center City for the firm’s mock trial academy. Cozen O’Connor is looking for students to serve as “jurors” on Friday, June 10th from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in Center City for the firm’s mock trial academy. Every other year, the firm holds a four-day trial academy for its senior associates and junior partners. The program culminates with a half-day mock trial during which the Cozen O’Connor attorneys try a case before local judges and mediators. The firm is looking for volunteers to serve as jurors. Jurors observe the mock trials and then engage in a half-hour of deliberations before their verdict is delivered. No prep work is needed ahead of time!

    The trials will be held at Convene City View, 30 S. 17th Street (17th & Market). Lunch will be provided to all participants and volunteers at the conclusion of the program.

    This is a fantastic opportunity to meet and observe Cozen O’Connor litigators and members of their professional development and recruiting teams.
