JD Degree Programs At the Kline School of Law, you have options for completing your JD in the time frame that suits you best. Most students choose the traditional JD, completing their studies in three years. Our accelerated JD appeals to students who wish to enter the workforce a year early. Some students get a head start by taking courses the summer before their first full semester in the 3-year program. No matter which JD option you choose, you’ll have the same opportunities to immerse yourself in real-world legal practice and enter the workforce with know-how and confidence. An Internship on Steroids: Co-op Through our Co-op Program, students earn academic credit for working alongside practitioners from more than 100 law firms, corporate offices, government agencies, courts and public-interest law organizations. There, they draft documents, conduct research, take part in meetings and depositions, interview witnesses and gain other great experience in the field. Learn More Representing Clients: Clinics Our Clinical Program allows students to work with attorneys from Philadelphia's premiere public-interest law organizations and represent clients in court, administrative hearings or community meetings. Our in-house Federal Litigation and Appeals Clinic gives students an opportunity to represent clients in federal courts and agencies. And through our in-house Entrepreneurial Law Clinic, students provide legal assistance to the owners of startup businesses. Learn More Serving the Public Good: Pro Bono Service All students spend time working with under-represented members of the community to gain additional legal experience while helping to put justice within reach for people who really need it. Many students enjoy the work so much that they vastly exceed the required 50 hours of service. Learn More All of This in Fast Forward - The 2-year J.D. Want to do all this at an even faster pace? Such study will only be authorized if it is related to the socio-legal environment of the country in which the foreign institution is located, or if has an international or comparative focus. It must also advance the goal of exposing the student to an alternative perspective on the role of law in society or the sources of law that are used to ensure rule of law.
