A Message from the Dean
Drexel University launched the Kline School of Law in 2006 with a bold vision to combine an exceptional academic experience with a thorough immersion in the practice of law.
As a pioneer in experiential learning and a comprehensive research university, Drexel was especially well suited to the task of creating a curriculum that incorporates both hands-on professional practice experience and scholarly excellence.
Since we admitted our first class, our students have gained – on average – hundreds of hours of experience in professional practice by the time they graduate. They enter the workforce with a deep understanding of employers’ expectations as well as the capacity to meet their demands.
Our faculty are accomplished scholars and practitioners who share a profound commitment to mentoring and advising students. They have contributed to a collegial culture here that is unmatched by any I’ve seen after decades of experience in the legal academy.
Year after year, we attract students who are both entrepreneurial and cooperative – contributing to a community of focused integrity that is a pleasure to observe and take part in.
As we’ve expanded our offerings to include an accelerated 2-year JD option, a Global JD and LLM for international students and a Master of Legal Studies program for those pursuing careers in the growing compliance arena, we’ve only enhanced the richness and diversity of this truly remarkable community.
Thanks to a transformative gift from one of the most respected trial attorneys in the nation, we are putting finishing touches on the Thomas R. Kline Institute for Trial Advocacy in a historic Center City building designed by architectural icon Horace Trumbauer. With its trial practice rooms, cutting edge technology and ceremonial courtroom, it will allow students to polish their advocacy skills in a setting that mirrors the professional landscape they will soon enter.
Employers often tell us that the Kline graduates they hire exceed their expectations. Such comments represent the highest compliment a law school dean could ask for, especially in Philadelphia, where the legal community is peerless in its richness and quality.
The Kline School of Law is a hub where student, scholars and practicing lawyers come to meet. I hope you’ll learn more about us visiting our website and taking a glance at LEX, our law school magazine.
