  • Apply To Be a Tech TA for Professor Werner-Simon

Prof. Werner-Simon teaches Marijuana Cannabis Law and seeks a TA to come to the classroom and "work" (i) the computer monitor and (ii) the class Zoom channel. The latter is used to "welcome in" visiting guests from across the globe who will speak to the class. Professor Werner-Simon, former federal prosecutor, filmmaker, and national lecturer, is seeking a Tech TA on Thursday evenings, 6 to 8 p.m. EST.

Prof. Werner-Simon teaches Marijuana Cannabis Law and seeks a TA to come to the classroom and "work" (i) the computer monitor and (ii) the class Zoom channel. The latter is used to "welcome in" visiting guests from across the globe who will speak to the class.

The professor uses (as visual content) from a google drive - pre-loaded clips from her own films, as well as documentaries and Powerpoint presentations which contain original source documents.

Each class begins with a review of up-to-the-minute events (New-in-the-News) and (after some exposition) the professor connects those events to the content of the class.

Each Thursday eve is a choreographed mash-up of constitutional law, current events, legal history and drug policy. The TA runs the google drive and the Zoom room using (following along with) a detailed script (prepared in advance by the professor and tailored to the content listed on the syllabus).

ADDED BONUS, if you and the professor "click" aka "connect" -- she will also consider you to be a paid member of her (personal not school-related) research strike force. (This is a virtual group of law students and newer lawyers “on call” on both coasts who conduct research when the professor has a media appearance and/or publication).

The strike force research position (of rolling “on call” assignments of a few hours) can start at any time and carry on through winter/summer holidays.  There is no need to commit to any assignment as the professor works down her list and declinations are always OK.

Submit an email to the professor at jaw478@drexel.edu if you are interested. In the subject area of the email include the words "Thursday Tech TA" AND attach (i) A resume or cv, and (ii) any writing sample (preferably a memo or paper written for class). No transcript is required but can be submitted if the student prefers.

Interested? email Prof. Werner-Simon, an adjunct, at  jaw478@drexel.edu.
