  • TA Opening for Fall 2023

Professor Werner-Simon, former federal prosecutor, filmmaker, and national lecturer, is seeking a TA for the Fall 2023 semester (for the class being held on Thursday evenings, 6 to 8 pm EST). Professor Werner-Simon, former federal prosecutor, filmmaker, and national lecturer, is seeking a TA for the Fall 2023 semester (for the class being held on Thursday evenings, 6 to 8 pm EST).

Prof. Werner-Simon teaches Marijuana Cannabis Law and seeks a TA to help tweak the Professor’s PowerPoint presentations, discuss and revise class content, & at times, edit film clips (often from the professor’s “industrial films”) to show in class, and to also collate class homework submissions into a single jumbo document.

The professor is teaching in Los Angeles this term and leaving for a program in Morocco (then France) when the semester ends and will arrive Day 1 in August at Drexel Kline Law. So, she needs to line-up her TA now. You can contact this year’s TA 3L Courtney Jones at cej58@drexel.edu to get the details about working with the professor.

PLUS, if you and the professor click, she will also consider you to be a paid member of her (personal not school-related) research strike force. (This is a virtual group of law students and newer lawyers “on call” on both coasts who conduct research when the professor has a media appearance and/or publication).

The strike force research position (of rolling “on call” assignments of a few hours) can start at any time and carry over into the summer. There is no need to commit to any assignment as the professor works down her list and declinations are always OK.

Submit: (i) A resume, (ii) a writing sample (preferably a memo or paper written for class) and (iii) although not required, but if easily available, a letter of reference. No transcript required but can be submitted if the student prefers.

    Qualifications:
    (i) Can be on campus and in the classroom Thursday evenings for the Fall term.
(ii) Can communicate via text and email as professor crisscrosses the globe.
(iii) Has a flare for working in PowerPoint (as professor’s own draft slides typically have format issues.)
(iv) Knows or can learn editing software to cull clips from films (mostly the professor’s).
    (v) Likes to collaborate and is interested in current events in the world, the nation, the state, the city of Philadelphia and the subject matter of the class.

Prof. Werner-Simon is looking forward to reading your resumes and writing samples and intends to make the decision – sooner rather than later. Send the application materials (at a minimum a resume and writing sample) with a cover email to the professor at jaw478@drexel.edu.
