  • Ballard Spahr 17th Annual Resume Writing and Interview Workshop for Diverse First-Year Law Students

    March 1, 5-8 p.m.

Ballard Spahr cordially invites six KSoL diverse first-year law students to participate in the firm’s 17th Annual Resume Writing and Interviewing Skills Workshop, which will be held in person, on March 1, 2023. Ballard’s Diverse Lawyers Group hosts this event each year to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal profession.

Location/In-Person: Ballard Spahr 1735 Market Street, 48th Floor, Philadelphia, PA 19103

The Career Strategies Office is acutely aware of the difficulty for law students to get noticed in a competitive job market. A strong resume and solid interviewing skills are often the primary ways students can distinguish themselves.

To help students develop these critical skills, Ballard Spahr cordially invites six KSoL diverse first-year law students to participate in the firm’s 17th Annual Resume Writing and Interviewing Skills Workshop, which will be held in person, on March 1, 2023. Ballard’s Diverse Lawyers Group hosts this event each year to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal profession.

Participating students will have the opportunity to meet with practicing legal professionals in one-on-one sessions designed to provide frank and informative feedback on the materials and skills necessary for landing a position in the legal field.

Due to the individualized nature of the workshop, space is limited. CSO will maintain a waitlist of two students who will be accommodated if space allows.

    Program
After a presentation on resume writing and interviewing, students will participate in mock interviews with practicing attorneys and will receive individualized feedback.

    How Do I Sign up?
Step One – RSVP by sending an email to Jen Moore jdm368@drexel.edu This program is first come, first serve - if selected, you will receive confirmation from the CSO.
Step Two – Confirmed participants should submit a resume & cover letter to Jen Moore by February 6th.

[Pro tip - to get the most from this program, prepare your materials as if you were applying to Ballard for a summer associate position.]

  • Bailiffs and Judges Needed for Drexel’s Marshall-Brennan Competition

If you are able to volunteer, email Earthen Johnson at eej23@drexel.edu by February 15 and let her know your preferred time slot. If you don’t have a preference or can do both slots, please state that as well. Volunteering with the competition is a great way to learn more about the M-B program and will be viewed favorably in the application/interview process!

The Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project pairs Drexel Law students with local Philadelphia high schools, teaching them about the power of the U.S. Constitution and its relevance in their lives. The high school students in each class who show the greatest aptitude are chosen to compete in local and national moot court competitions, where they put their newfound knowledge of the law and critical thinking skills into practice.

Our current M-B Fellows are hard at work coaching their high school students for our local Drexel competition, which we are holding virtually via Zoom on Saturday, February 18, 2023. Please consider volunteering to bailiff (1Ls) or judge (2/3Ls) for the morning preliminary rounds (9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.), afternoon semi-final rounds (1-4 p.m.), or both.
