  • New York Bar Application Opens April 1

    The application filing period for the July 27-28, 2021 New York bar examination is April 1-30, 2021.

    The July 2021 New York Bar Examination will be administered remotely. Application to the July 27-28, 2021 bar examination will be open to all eligible applicants. However, the Board will cap the number of applications at 10,000. The application filing period for the July 27-28, 2021 New York bar examination is April 1-30, 2021. The application will close on April 30, 2021 or when the 10,000 cap is reached.

  • Financial Aid for Summer 2021

    Students interested in receiving financial aid for the Summer Semester at the law school should note the following.

    Students interested in receiving financial aid for the Summer Semester at the law school should note the following:

    • The tuition charges this summer will be $1,065 per credit after the law school’s 33% discount is applied. The General Student Fee will be $420.
    • Law Merit Scholarships cannot be applied to summer tuition by students in the 3 year JD program. Students in joint degree programs or international programs should speak separately with their advisors about their scholarships.
    • Students taking at least 4.5 credits (half time enrollment) can take out Federal Graduate Plus Loans to cover their expenses. You can start applying for summer loans the third week of March at www.studentaid.gov. The loan is for 2020-21 (not 2021-22). The loan term is 05/24/2021 - 08/05/2021.
    • If students take out Federal Graduate Plus Loans to cover their expenses in the summer an allocation for the costs of living expenses for 2 months, as well as tuition and fees, are added to a summer student’s 2020-21 budget. Funds are scheduled to disburse around May 17, 2021 with refunds issued by the Bursar’s Office over the next two-three days.
    • There are no additional financial aid applications necessary if your FAFSA for 2020-21 is on file with the school.
    • Students in the 2 year JD program are already packaged for summer and will not need to take additional steps.

  • PIE Prize Applications Due March 19

    Students who volunteered for the PIE Auction and met procurement requirements are eligible to apply. Students must be interning in unpaid summer public interest positions.

    PIE Prize Applications are due on Friday, March 19, at noon. Students who volunteered for the PIE Auction and met procurement requirements are eligible to apply. Students must be interning in unpaid summer public interest positions. (Judicial internships and research positions with faculty are not eligible for PIE Prizes.) The Selection Committee will hold an interview with each applicant. The PIE Prize recipients will be announced by Friday, April 16. Applications can be found here and will be posted in Symplicity.

  • Sign Up to be a Mentor in SBA’s Mentoring Program

    The program will connect incoming traditional 3-year JD and AJD students with upper-level students to help guide them through their first year.

    SBA is restarting its Mentoring Program, beginning this coming summer term! The program will connect incoming traditional 3-year JD and AJD students with upper-level students to help guide them through their first year. Incoming students, given their preference, may be connected with upper-level students based on background, identity, career goals, legal interests, extra-curricular interests, OCI & pro bono interests, etc. Mentors will be provided with the 1L semester schedule that highlights major deadlines, such as the 1L brief, extracurricular opportunities, etc. Mentors will be encouraged to get to know their mentees and to regularly check in with their mentees to ensure that they are having a smooth transition into law school. Please sign up to be a mentor.
