Drexel IT operates DirectoryAssistance, the university's online web directory of students, faculty, and staff. The information in the directory is updated daily from Banner, the university's official system of records. All "current" students, faculty, and staff are included, however students who haven't taken a class in twelve months, who have a hold on their records, or who have requested records confidentially are automatically hidden.

Individuals can control how much information is shown about them and to whom. By default, the systems shows names and emails to anyone along with student program and major or staff phone and office location. This information, along with the format in which names are displayeed, is controlled by each person's DirectoryAssistance Profile.

To search for someone in DirectoryAssistance, just type in their name. Use these examples to guide your input:

Schneider, Richard — The full and correct last and first name works best.
Snider, Richard — If you aren't sure of the spelling, just type it as it sounds.
Snyder, Dick — Most common nicknames are understood, too, along with initials.
Schneider — You can leave out the first name, but the results aren't as accurate.
Rich Smieder — You can put the first name first, but it isn't recommended.
R S*der — Use * for the letters that you don't know, but spell the rest correctly.
2020 — Numbers are interpreted as campus office extensions or fax numbers.
