To ensure a properly working and universally accessible wireless network, Drexel University prohibits the use of equipment that interferes with wireless networks operated by Drexel University Information Technology and by the Information Technology department of the College of Medicine. This means that others may not operate such equipment in, on, or near university buildings including classrooms, laboratories, private offices, residence halls, and university-managed fraternity, sorority and apartment buildings.

Equipment that causes interference with the wireless networks operated by Drexel University Information Technology and by the Information Technology department of the College of Medicine must be turned off upon notification from either Drexel University Information Technology of the Information Technology department of the College of Medicine.

The university assumes no responsibility to compensate you for any direct or incidental costs related to requiring that the use of the interfering equipment be terminated on University owned or managed property.

Requesting Exceptions to this Policy

Within or near facilities operated chiefly for the College of Medicine, specific temporary exceptions to this policy may be granted by the Information Technology department of the College of Medicine to address needs in areas that are not adequately served by the existing wireless network or for other reasons deemed appropriate by the Information Technology department of the College of Medicine.

Within or near facilities operated chiefly for other parts of Drexel University, specific temporary exceptions to this policy may be granted by Drexel University Information Technology to address needs in areas that are not adequately served by the existing wireless network or for other reasons deemed appropriate by IT.

Requests for temporary exceptions to the this radio spectrum policy must be addressed via email to WirelessSpectrum@drexelmed.edu for the College of Medicine or WirelessSpectrum@drexel.edu elsewhere. Each request must explain the type of equipment would be operated, the location where it would be operated, the reason for its use, and the time period for which the exception is requested.

All decisions about airspace policy exceptions are made by Drexel University Information Technology. Responses to requests are usually received within one week, but may take longer if the analysis of signal strengths and potential interference in the exception area is complex.
