Mindfulness in Everyday Life

Tuesday, May 23, 2017

12:00 PM-1:00 PM

In this session we will explore techniques and teachings geared toward bringing mindfulness into everyday life: brief and potent practices that we can rely on throughout the day. We will learn how to cultivate an inner balance to help us navigate challenging situations, be more present for others, and enjoy the best that our lives have to offer. As we learn to return to settled spot in the midst of whatever life dishes up, we become more kind, resilient, and skillful. Our instructor, Alexander deVaron, received training and authorization to teach mindfulness meditation in 1986. Since then he has been an instructor in programs ranging from 30-minute introductions to 30-day residential retreats. He as taught the 8 week Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction class for the Penn Program for Mindfulness, and for six years served as the senior teacher at the Shambhala Meditation Center of Philadelphia. Currently he teaches music at Temple University, and also serves lead teacher for a mindfulness group made up of employees at the university's Department of Student Affairs. One of his primary interests is bringing mindfulness into all aspects of life. Registration required. Register by logging into Career Pathway. No food will be served at this event.
