Navigating College and Employer Expectations while on the Autism Spectrum

Friday, August 26, 2016

12:00 PM-1:00 PM

This presentation is intended for any interested members of the Drexel community, and should be of particular interest to advisors, faculty, and those involved in co-op and admissions. The session features a guest speaker, Mr. Sam Huber, who currently works at the Y.A.L.E. School with a wide range of students on the Autism Spectrum.

Participants will gain a better understanding of the process of entering college and then the workforce from the perspective of someone who is on the Autism Spectrum. The talk will likely also explore what it is like to enter the workforce after leaving college and how someone who is on the Autism Spectrum looks for work and how she or he learns to work in a new environment. Topics will include getting an outfit ready for work, getting along with coworkers and supervisors, and providing good customer service.

Faculty and professional staff can register for this workshop in Career Pathway via DrexelOne.

Students who wish to attend can contact Rita Berson at rk25@drexel.edu or 215-895-1805.
