Transfer Student Next Steps

We are excited you will be transferring to Drexel University! Here are some important items you must complete before your first day of class.

Brochures and Materials for New Students

Administrative

  • Pick up your computer accounts
As a Drexel student, you are entitled to computer accounts, such as email and DrexelOne. You must check DrexelOne regularly for important updates regarding placement tests and your tuition bill. Visit Drexel's Information Technology (IT) New Accounts page to pick up your accounts as soon as possible.
  • Monitor your Student Checklist
You can find your Student Checklist on the Welcome tab of DrexelOne. Be sure to check your Checklist regularly, as new items will appear leading up to the start of the term.
  • Submit required I-20/DS-2019 application documents (International Students Requiring F-1 Visas)
Review the information for New International Students on the International Students and Scholars Services (ISSS) to learn about the I-20/DS-2019 application process, including how to electronically upload your documents via the New Student Checklist on DrexelOne before the appropriate I-20 deadline.
  • Review Drexel's computer and software recommendations
View them on IT's Computers and Software website.
  • Pick up your DragonCard University ID
Before you start at Drexel, you can upload a photo for your DragonCard online. Visit the DragonCard website for more information. DragonCards can also be picked up at the DragonCard Office.
  • Submit required materials for your provisional admission (for students admitted provisionally to the University)
If you were admitted provisionally to the University, you must submit the required materials two weeks prior to the beginning of the term. Review the provision on your admission in your online admission letter on the Discover Drexel Portal.

Academics

  • Review the transfer credit evaluation
Carefully review the transfer credit evaluation provided to you by your academic advisor. You will receive this via email within two weeks after your admission notification.
  • Contact your advisor to complete registration for your first term
Your academic advisor will answer questions you may have about course selection and registration. Refer to the Undergraduate Advising Directory to locate your advisor.
  • Forward your final official transcripts to Drexel
Final transcripts are due two weeks prior to the beginning of the term. We recommend that you submit all official transcripts and supporting documentation electronically to enroll@drexel.edu. Otherwise, please mail to:
    Transcript Processing
    Drexel University
    PO Box 34789
    Philadelphia, PA 19101
  • Notify Disability Resources
If you have any physical or learning disabilities, notify Disability Resources as soon as possible. Drexel University is committed to providing equal access to its programs and services to qualified students. Visit the Disability Resources website for more information.
  • Review information about Your Student Success Team
The Student Success Team is a group of Drexel professionals that are specifically dedicated to assisting you throughout your entire time here. We encourage you to reach out to the members of your team, as they are dedicated to helping you figure out at you want to do with your future and how you will get there.

Financial Aid & Billing

  • Review financial aid, billing information, and outstanding financial aid requirements
There are important steps and planning you and your family should complete in order to ensure you are financially ready for the beginning of the year. Visit the New Student Financial Checklist page and DrexelOne to learn more. Drexel Central will send email notifications to your Drexel address when you have requirements that need to be completed. New student loans will not be disbursed from the lender to Drexel until the promissory note has been signed and all requirements are completed.
  • Complete the CSS Profile and FAFSA
For domestic applicants, we highly recommend completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible but no later than one month prior to the start of the term to maximize your eligibility for support. Please make sure to use Drexel's school code (003256).
International applicants should submit the CSS Profile, using Drexel's school code (2194), to be considered for Drexel need-based aid. The CSS Profile should be submitted as soon as possible but no later than one month prior to the start of your first term. Students starting in the spring should submit the CSS Profile by February 15 at the very latest, the date the CSS Profile closes.
  • Notify Drexel Central
If there are any changes in your enrollment status, you must notify Drexel Central. A change in enrollment status could affect your financial aid or merit award. Use AskDrexel to report this information.
  • Review Drexel Central's New Student Financial Checklist
Visit the New Student Financial Checklist page  on the Drexel Central website for more information about billing, eRefunds, and FERPA. You can provide eBill access to your parents, guardians, and anyone else you wish to be an authorized user.

Campus Life

  • Comply with Drexel's immunization policies
All full-time students must complete the Immunization Record Form by the appropriate deadline (September 1 for fall start, January 31 for winter start, and April 30 for spring start). Visit the Forms page on the Health Insurance and Immunizations website to download the form. For more information, visit Health Insurance and Immunizations.
  • Comply with Drexel's health insurance policies
All students must demonstrate proof of health insurance and either waive or enroll in the Drexel Health Insurance Plan prior to the appropriate deadline (September 30 for fall start, January 31 for winter start, and April 30 for spring start). Students must continue to complete this process each year they attend Drexel at the beginning of the academic year. For more information, visit Health Insurance and Immunizations.
  • Complete the Housing and Residence Life (HRL) and Dining Agreement
If you are interested in on-campus housing, you must submit a $200 housing deposit and then the housing application. Transfer housing is assigned first-come, first-served and is filled on a rolling basis. After you receive your housing assignment, please confirm your move-in date with Housing and Residence Life. For students interested in our dining plans, these can be added to your account through DrexelOne.
  • Download the Drexel Guardian App
Before you begin your time at Drexel, download Drexel Guardian App, which will immediately connect you with Drexel Public Safety in times of need by text message or one-touch dialing, and unlock other safety features, including the emergency GPS locator, virtual escorts, and utilizing the app's safety timer. Search "Rave Guardian" in the Apple App Store for iPhones or Google Play Store for Android phones and register using your Drexel email address.
  • Register for Welcome Week (Fall entry only)
If you plan to start in the fall term, you will receive an email through your Drexel account in July with information about Welcome Week. To register, log in to DrexelOne and follow the registration prompts before September 1.
