B.S./M.S. student Emily Buck
B.S./M.S. student Emily Buck (advisor: Caroline Schauer) is a recipient of a Whitaker International Program Fellowship.
The fellowship provides funding to pursue research abroad in the field of bioengineering. Following graduation, Emily will spend one year at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Switzerland studying and conducting research under the auspices of Dr. Jeff Hubbell.
Additionally, Emily is a 2014 recipient of the Drexel University Student Life Marilyn A. Burshtin Memorial Award. The award is presented to a woman in the College of Engineering who has excelled in studies and participated extensively in student activities. Emily is the fourth student in the department to receive the award. Previous award recipients include Amanda Toth (2012), also advised by Professor Schauer, and Amanda Pentecost (2011) and Prineha Narang (2009), both advised by Professor Yury Gogotsi.
Additional accolades for Emily include her selection as a Fulbright alternate, a recipient of a 2014 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship (declined), and a Goldwater Scholarship (2013-2014). Upon completion of the Whitaker Fellowship, she plans to pursue a Ph.D. at McGill University.
