All MS students are required to complete at least 45 credits of graduate coursework and/or research. These are grouped as the following:
Core Courses (15 credits)
- CHE 502 Mathematical Methods
- CHE 513 Thermodynamics I
- CHE 525 Transport Phenomena I
- CHE 543 Kinetics and Catalysis I
- CHE 554 Process Systems Engineering
Technical Elective Courses (15 credits)
- Subject must be at the graduate level.
- Subject must have scientific and/or engineering merit.
- Subject should match student’s scientific/technical interests.
- Subject should not be closely similar to core courses or other courses that have already been taken.
- Subject could complement the student’s research if doing independent study research or pursuing a master’s thesis.
- Subject may follow a specific course sequence that leads to a field of specialization.
Free Elective Courses (6 credits)
- Subject must be at the graduate level.
- Subject in general that is unrestricted.
Non-Thesis or Thesis Option (9 credits)
- For non-thesis option, 9 credits of additional technical elective courses.
- For thesis option, 9 credits of CHE 898 Masters
GPA Requirements
- 3.0 overall, and
- 3.0 over all graduate CHE courses, and
- 3.0 over all core graduate CHE courses
