Dr. Rajeev Gautam was President & CEO of Honeywell Performance Materials and Technologies (PMT) until his retirement in late 2021 after 43 years with the company. Honeywell PMT is a global leader in providing advanced materials, process technologies and automation solutions, with sales of $10.8 billion in 2019. PMT delivers high-performance products and solutions including low-global-warming-potential refrigerants, automation and software for process industries, and process technologies for the refining, petrochemical and gas processing industries. The business also delivers a portfolio of advanced solutions via Honeywell Connected Plant, which helps the company’s industrial customers turn data into insight that enables plants to run more efficiently and reliably. As the President and CEO of PMT he successfully navigated the unprecedented impact of COVID on Honeywell’s core markets. He diversified PMT’s customer base, which helped position PMT to effectively navigate the recovery, focusing on new verticals such as life science, automation, and digitization. He also shifted the organization to a clear focus on sustainability. Throughout his career, Rajeev has championed innovative solutions to create unparalleled value for customers and driven expansion into new markets. In 2020, Rajeev was elected member of The National Academy of Engineering (NAE), among the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer. Rajeev also served as President of Honeywell UOP, one of the leading suppliers of process technologies that have formed the foundation for most of the world’s refiners, efficiently producing gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, petrochemicals and renewable fuels. He also served as Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of PMT. During the last 43 years, he held key positions within UOP, spanning research and development, engineering, and marketing, including vice president and chief technology officer of UOP. Rajeev began his career with Union Carbide in 1978 and became part of UOP through a joint venture in 1988. Rajeev earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in chemical engineering from Drexel University. Additionally, he holds a doctorate in chemical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
