Drexel CCI Celebrates Two Undergraduate Students and Newest Nina Henderson Provost Scholars

The Nina Henderson Provost Scholars (NHPS) Program is a prestigious annual scholarship initiative that empowers 12 motivated Drexel University students to enhance their leadership skills and contribute to shaping the Drexel experience. Drexel’s College of Computing & Informatics (CCI) is excited to announce that two CCI students, Anh Nguyen ‘26 and Satvik Tripathi ‘26, both pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, have been appointed as Provost Scholars for the 2023-24 academic year.

"Being appointed as a Nina Henderson Provost Scholar is an incredible honor and a source of immense pride and excitement for me,” said Nguyen. “It represents recognition of my dedication to sustainability and my potential to make a meaningful impact in this field." Nguyen added that he is grateful to professors, dedicated faculty members, and CCI’s outstanding support for equipping him with critical thinking and technical skills essential for his journey towards sustainability and innovation.

Nguyen aims to channel his technological skills and passion for sustainability into initiatives benefiting both the University and Philadelphia community. "Having led the start-up Solar for Change to implement solar irrigation systems for local farmers back in my home country Vietnam, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative potential of technology in the field of sustainability,” said Nguyen. “I look forward to collaborating with fellow scholars and University faculty to co-create sustainable initiatives tailored to the unique needs and challenges of Philadelphia. With this scholarship, I aim to be at the forefront of sustainable innovation and work towards a greener and more sustainable future for Drexel, Philadelphia, and beyond."

Tripathi, appointed to the program for a second time, reflected, "Being appointed a Nina Henderson Provost Scholar for the second time is a tremendous privilege. It's a humbling experience to be recognized and chosen for this prestigious scholarship program, motivating me to excel even further." Tripathi highlighted the significance of working in the Office of the Provost and presenting to Drexel’s Board of Trustees, allowing him to contribute a student perspective in decision-making.

Describing the program as an incredibly enriching experience, Tripathi said, "Being a part of this community of high-achieving individuals provides me with unique opportunities for intellectual growth and collaboration. Together, we form a close-knit network of scholars, supporting and promoting each other to reach new heights academically and personally."

Tripathi emphasized the rare and invaluable opportunity of working in the Office of the Provost, gaining insights into the inner workings of the academic institution, understanding decision-making processes, and actively contributing to shaping the future of the University. "In the upcoming year of the NHPS program, I am eagerly looking forward to diving deeper into the realm of artificial intelligence and education,” he said. “Collaborating with Dr. Steve Weber and his office on the Curricular Analytics & Curricular Applications of Generative AI presents an exciting opportunity to explore the intersection of technology and learning. Being a part of the Standing Committee on Artificial Intelligence (SCAI) at Drexel adds another layer of significance, allowing me to actively engage with experts and enthusiasts in the field, contributing to meaningful discussions and shaping the University's approach to AI."

He also expressed excitement about sharing his expertise on generative AI (GenAI) and the ethics of AI to create a more sustainable and forward-thinking classroom environment.

The Nina Henderson Provost Scholars Program is made possible by support from Nina Henderson, Chair of the Academic Affair Committee of the Board of Trustees, Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees and Drexel alumna.
