AI for Community: Book Panel on Responsible, Community-Driven AI

Thursday, January 15, 2026

5:00 PM-7:00 PM

Join Drexel’s College of Computing & Informatics (CCI) for a book talk and panel discussion around AI for Community: Preserving Culture & Tradition, a new book exploring how communities can meaningfully shape AI systems, especially when culture, memory, and lived experience are at stake.

The event will feature a short introduction to the book’s core ideas, followed by a moderated panel conversation on practical questions: What does “community-led AI” look like in the real world? How do we build systems that are technically strong while also accountable, culturally respectful, and socially beneficial? How should universities, industry, and local communities collaborate as generative AI becomes mainstream?

The program will include audience Q&A and time for informal conversation and networking afterward. This event is intended for students, faculty, staff, and the broader Drexel community interested in responsible AI, HCI, ethics, cultural preservation, and the societal impacts of generative AI.
