Reminder About International Travel, Carrying Immigration Documents, and Change of U.S. Address

International Travel

If you plan to travel internationally in the near future, regardless of whether you have a valid entry visa or not, please do not make any travel plans and do not depart the U.S. without consulting with our office. All international students, scholars, staff, should plan their international travel carefully and be prepared that there could be a sudden immigration related update while they are abroad.

For more detailed international travel and FAQs, please consult Fragomen’s legal resources.

Carrying immigration documents

With the potential for intensified immigration compliance efforts by the Department of Homeland Security, students and scholars are reminded that they are required to carry evidence of their immigration status (such as Form I-94, a valid EAD card, I-20/DS-2019 form, copy of your passport/visa sticker, and/or green card) at all times, including when traveling domestically or just going about daily life. F-1 and J-1 students, J--1scholars, H-1b employees, and other individuals on Drexel’s visa sponsorship can obtain a copy of their latest I-94 record at the Department of Homeland Security website Students and scholars should also ensure that all immigration-related documents (i.e. Passport, I-20/DS-2019) remain valid while in the US and should consult with ISSS if any documents are lost or expiring.

Report Change of U.S. Residential Address

In addition, all noncitizens living in the United States must report any change of address within 10 days of the address change. Drexel’s F-1 and J-1 students and scholars can fulfill this requirement by reporting their address to ISSS at isss@drexel.edu. Drexel’s H-1B employees and green card holders must update their address directly with USCIS.

For more detailed information about these requirements, please consult NAFSA: Association of International Educators.
