Nancy Johnston, PhD, Associate Professor of Chemistry, Lewis-Clark State College, Physical, Life, Movement & Sport Sciences Division, will present "Air Monitoring of Volatile Organic Compounds and Health Risk in Philadelphia and Northwestern Communities."
Ambient air in Philadelphia and the Northwest (Idaho) was monitored for toxics including benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes (BTEX) to determine community exposure. Exposure sources range from industrial, wildfire or traffic emissions, and health risk for BTEX levels was assessed.
