HOP CO-CHAIR

Emma is a second-year medical student from Seattle, Washington, and she graduated from Chapman University with a degree in biochemistry and molecular biology. She was initially drawn to HOP because of the organization's mission to make a firsthand impact on the surrounding Philadelphia community and how it gave students the privilege of working with patients from all different cultural backgrounds. She believes HOP serves as a great outreach program that maintains our focus on how we can help others as future physicians and is so excited to help lead it! A fun fact about Emma is that she loves the outdoors and she hiked around 12 national parks last summer.

David is a second-year medical student from Reading, Pennsylvania, who graduated from DeSales University with a BS in biology in 2019. Prior to medical school, he spent two years serving as a campus missionary at Towson University with the Fellowship of Catholic University Students. He is excited to be one of the first co-leaders for HOP at the new West Reading Campus, and he can’t wait to be able to start programs to serve the community that he grew up in. Outside of school, David is an avid distance runner and loves spending time with his friends and family.

Danielle Mayblyum

HOP WEST READING CO-CHAIR
  dvm46@drexel.edu

Danielle is a second-year medical student from Boston, Massachusetts. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with degrees in biochemistry and psychology. Before starting at DUCOM, Danielle was heavily involved in Alzheimer’s disease research and volunteered as a medical advocate through a local organization centered around providing support to survivors of sexual assault. As she transitioned to medical school, Danielle wanted to continue engaging with her new community and was inspired by the previous work done through HOP. Being at a new campus, she wanted to help start HOP in West Reading to provide students with more opportunities to engage with individuals and organizations throughout the community. Outside of medical school, Danielle enjoys traveling, crafting and staying active by trying different fitness classes.

Meghan Schilken

Meghan Schilken
HOP SECRETARY
  mms526@drexel.edu

Meghan is enthused to take on her role as a member of the HOP executive board! Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Meghan will always bleed black and gold for the Steel City but has found a special place in her heart for the City of Brotherly Love. Meghan completed her undergraduate education in Williamsburg, Virginia, at the College of William & Mary where she pursued a degree in neuroscience and was a member of the Division I women’s swim team. While completing her Master of Science in biomedical studies at Drexel, Meghan volunteered at MANNA & Magee Hospital where she found her passion for serving the Philadelphia community. Meghan was drawn to HOP’s mission of empathetic health outreach and is eager to build meaningful connections with the diverse Philadelphia population while working alongside her HOP team members. Outside of school, Meghan enjoys swimming, soaking up the sun whenever she can, watching old movies and exploring the city in search of the cutest coffee shops.

HOP TREASURER
  mzk26@drexel.edu

Mei Keck grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and graduated from UCLA with a philosophy degree. She believes health care is a basic human right and because of this, she is attuned to the health care disparities in this country based on race, income, immigration status and/or other factors. She was driven to HOP based on this belief and is excited and grateful for the opportunity to serve the DUCOM and Philadelphia communities.
