Inaugural Doctoral Student Newsletter

Doctoral Student Newsletter Is Out

June 7, 2021

We are excited to share with you the inaugural Doctorate Student Newsletter! A graduate student panel at our recent faculty and professional staff retreat for graduate and online education were very clear -  students receive way too many emails and communications. In response, we decided to create a newsletter that will contain most of the important information that is sent to you, our doctoral degree students, including PhD and professional doctoral programs, in multiple emails, and that we hope will serve as a reminder of key dates and deadlines, as well as University-wide resources and professional development opportunities which we hope you will take advantage of.

Click the link above to view/download the newsletter [PDF].

In this inaugural newsletter, you will find a letter from Assistant Dean, Anne Converse Willkomm, and a letter from the Graduate Diversity Advisory Council Faculty Chair, Alonzo Flowers. You will also find a list of important upcoming dates, upcoming doctoral defenses, a list of recent Graduate College award winners, and a list of student resources. Future newsletters will also contain details and registration information regarding professional development opportunities, updates regarding progress on Diversity and Inclusion initiatives, and much more! We will also continue to develop its design, ensuring it is mobile-friendly, organized, and only contains the most relevant information for you as PhD/doctoral students.

Our goal is to communicate with you about things you need and want to know in the most streamlined way possible. With that being said, we would like to hear from you – what else can we include? If there is additional information you would like us to include in upcoming newsletters, please let us know. We want this to be a beneficial informational resource for you.

For those of you graduating this spring, CONGRATULATIONS! We hope you will come back and update us on your future successes and stay in touch.

For those of you continuing your doctoral journey with us this summer and fall, don’t hesitate to reach out. We are here for you.

Until next time!
