Introduction to Business Analysis

This is two-day introductory course is designed to provide you with a basic understanding of the benefits, functions and impact a business analyst has within an organization. You will study the process as it is applied throughout a project—including the pre-project activities that comprise strategy analysis.

By the end of your time in the course, you will understand how a business analyst supports a project throughout the solution development life cycle, from establishing the solution vision and scope in the analysis phase to validating that requirements have been met in the testing phase. Furthermore, you understand why and when to involve the business analysis function.

Requirement Elicitation

Dates: Friday, May 7 and Saturday, May 8, 2021, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

In this highly interactive two-day course, you will learn how to enhance and refine your elicitation skills. You explore industry best practices as well as professional tips and methods from expert faculty in the field. Working in small groups, you will practice new techniques and discuss strategies that can be used to better define stakeholder needs. A case study-driven workshop comprises more than half the course and provides a real-world example, templates and job aids to reference once you return back to the job. If you or your organization are struggling with missing requirements, lack of stakeholder involvement, out of control scope, or the inability to know which tools to apply to elicit the most thorough requirements, this course can help you succeed.

Requirements Analysis (Using Use Cases)

This two-day course provides a strong foundation in the mechanics of use case diagramming and writing textual descriptions of use cases. Throughout the course, you learn how to enhance and refine your use case skills, how to involve stakeholders in the use case process, and how to develop use cases that provide a structure for scenario-based requirements—which are valuable to the designers and testers of products and software. Use cases that meet the needs of designers can be too technical and too detailed for other stakeholders.

Unified Modeling Language (UML) for Business Analysts

Business Process Improvement (BPI) for Business Analysts

User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for Business Analysts

An effective User Acceptance Testing (UAT) process addresses this issue by confirming the functionality and performance of the product prior to its release.
