Captain Ferguson and the Starliner
Chapter 2
In the Media
Engineer Change
Events
In 2011, Capt. Chris Ferguson, a Drexel College of Engineering alumnus, commanded the space shuttle Atlantis on its final NASA mission. His celebrated shuttle career behind him, Ferguson was unsure what to do next. He considered teaching at Drexel. Then, Boeing stepped in with an irresistible offer – piloting its next-generation spacecraft, the CST-100 Starliner, to the International Space Station. Ferguson accepted the offer heartily and a new national chapter in space travel began.
In honor of Capt. Ferguson, we introduce the first of our interactive “matching” games, a collaboration between the College of Engineering and Westphal College of Media Arts & Design. Enjoy the excitement as, together, we count down through 2019 to launch – five, four, three, two, one, liftoff!
