
ShanghaiRanking Consultancy’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects for 2025 places Drexel’s Materials Science and Engineering program at #32 globally, up from 41 in 2024, with an equivalent ranking of #13 in the United States.
As one of the most influential global ranking systems for universities, ShanghaiRankings’ global rankings include roughly 2,000 universities from 5,000 evaluated worldwide. Program performance is measured by a variety of indicators including international collaborations, international academic awards, and research output, quality, and influence.
“This ranking is a testament to the creativity and hard work of our faculty and students in making Drexel an international hub for materials education and innovation,” said department head Caroline Schauer. “We are a small but mighty force creating impact through collaboration, discovery and excellence in materials research.”
