Alumna Elizabeth Hoffman (BS ‘02, PhD ’07, advisors: Michel Barsoum and Yury Gogotsi) has been nominated vice president of ASM International Board for 2023-2024. She will be officially voted into the position of ASM Vice President at the October 2023 meeting of ASM International, to take place at the International Materials, Application & Technologies (IMAT) Conference in Detroit, MI.

This is the start of a three-year leadership post, with a year of service as vice president, a year as senior vice president in 2024-2025 and an appointment to ASM president for the 2025-2026 term. ASM International is a materials professional society whose mission is “[t]o gather, process, and disseminate materials information globally, through education, networking, and professional development for members, organizations served by our members, and the materials community.” Hoffman is currently completing a three-year term as a member of the ASM International Board of Trustees. 

Hoffman serves as director of innovation and university engagement at the Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) and is the chair of the Drexel Materials External Advisory Board. She is a Fellow of ASM International, a recipient of the ASM International Silver Medal Award, a recipient of the Drexel Alumni Service to the Profession Award, and was named to Drexel’s 40 under 40 list in 2015.
