Industry Connection Creates New Opportunities for Students

A new, three-year partnership between Drexel Engineering’s Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics and industry leaders Eastern Controls Inc. and Endress+Hauser USA will create and foster a pipeline of future engineers ready to succeed in careers focused on data-driven manufacturing automation.

The three-year partnership will co-op opportunities with Eastern Controls and Endress+Hauser, sponsorship of Senior Design projects, and the development of a manufacturing-oriented learning platform through collaboration between students, faculty and experts and supported by state-of-the-art instrumentation and controls provided by Eastern Controls and Endress+Hauser.

“Throughout Drexel’s history, industry partnerships have allowed us to give students the hands-on experience they need to more fully understand how what they learn in the classroom applies to the world around them,” says Jonathan Spanier, PhD, professor and department head of mechanical engineering and mechanics. “Partnering with Eastern Controls and Endress+Hauser — global leader in sustainable manufacturing automation — will help students deepen the connections between thermal and fluid science fundamentals with controls and machine learning and their practical application.”
