Rising 4th year student Erika Garro has been awarded the inaugural Centennial Scholarship by the ASM International Liberty Bell Chapter. The scholarship includes a $5000, and, as a bonus for receiving the first award of its kind, the chapter is covering all costs for Garro to attend the ASM International annual meeting (IMAT 2021) in St. Louis which runs from September 13 - 16, 2021.

Garro is active in Drexel's ASM Material Advantage student chapter and serves as its membership chair. In addition to her dedication to the field, Garro participated in the STAR Scholars Program, which provides research opportunities to undergraduate students in the summer after their first year, and she is currently a member of the Aspire Scholars Program, which is designed to provide promising, curious, and motivated Drexel undergraduates an opportunity to further develop and clarify their goals, within a small community of peers and with guidance from faculty, staff, and alumni. She is currently on co-op at Exponent, where she helps set up and run mechanical testing for various clients, and assists in management of the equipment team.
