Drexel Materials alumna Elizabeth (Liz) Hoffman, PhD, FASM (BS 2002, PhD 2007; advisors: Michel Barsoum and Yury Gogotsi) has been elected a 2019 ASM International Fellow. In 1969, ASM established the Fellow of the Society honor to provide recognition to members for their distinguished contributions to materials science and engineering and to develop a broadly-based forum of technical and professional leaders to serve as advisors to the society.

Hoffman, who serves as Program Manager at the Savannah River National Lab, was elected Fellow for “broad applied science contributions to materials performance research in nuclear applications, the development of scientists and engineers in the area of nuclear materials research, and bridging the national laboratory with academic communities."

2019 Fellows will be recognized at ASM’s annual Awards Dinner, Tuesday, October 1st, in Portland, OR during Materials Science & Technology 2019 (MS&T’19).
