Two Materials Alumnae Named Drexel Magazine's 40 Under 40

Joining the ranks of four other Drexel Materials alumni, two alumnae have been selected for Drexel’s coveted 40 Under 40 for 2018.

Dr. Nina Crum (PhD ’13; advisor: Michel Barsoum) and Dr. Kristy Jost (PhD ’15; advisors: Yury Gogotsi and Genevieve Dion) have been named to this list of up-and-comers. Both alums also received Drexel’s Outstanding Promise Doctoral Award upon graduation.

Nina currently works for Intel Corporation as a software engineering technology development manager. In her role, she is impacting the future of computer chip design and creating software engines that will allow for increasingly smaller, faster and more powerful devices.  Nina promotes and inspires women in technology through a project she started to address gender-based behaviors in meetings.

Kristy Jost
Dr. Kristy Jost

Kristy is senior product development engineer at 3M. In addition to her PhD in materials, Kristy received a BS in fashion design from Drexel in 2011. She is a former recipient of the Department of Defense National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship (NDSEG) and National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship (declined).

Previous Drexel Materials alumni selected for the 40 Under 40 include Dr. Davide Mattia (‘07, advisor: Yury Gogotsi) and Dr. Michael Naguib (’14, advisors: Michel Barsoum and Yury Gogotsi), both in 2016; Dr. Elizabeth Hoffman in 2015 (BS ‘02, PhD ‘07; advisors:  Michel Barsoum and Yury Gogotsi), and Dr. Ranjan Dash (MBA/Ph.D. ’06, advisor: Yury Gogotsi) in 2013.
