Drexel Materials alumna Nina Lane (PhD, ‘13) is the 2017 recipient of Drexel University’s Young Alumni Emerging Leader Award.
Each year, Drexel recognizes alumni and students for outstanding achievements in their professions, in the community, and within the University. The Young Alumni Emerging Leader Award is presented to an individual who graduated within the last 10 years, regardless of age or degree, who is making an impact within his or her community or in his or her profession since graduation.
Lane, a senior software engineer at Intel Corporation, is impacting the future of computer chip design, creating software engines that will allow for increasingly smaller, faster and more powerful devices. As an accomplished woman in a largely male-dominated profession, Nina has actively advocated for increasing diversity within the field of materials science and engineering. She has also made an impact in her community, dedicating much service time to tutoring youth and community outreach through the arts.
