Alumnus Dr. William E. Frazier, BS ’81, MS ’84, PhD ’87, has been elected Vice President of the Board of Trustees of ASM International. This is a three-year position with one year of service as Vice President, one year as President, and one year as Immediate Past President.
With 35 years of experience in naval aviation and materials engineering and science, Frazier currently serves as the Navy Senior Scientist for Materials Engineering, into which he was inducted in July 2005. He also serves as the Chief Scientist of the Air Vehicle Engineering Department at NAVAIR. He has authored more than 90 technical publications, edited 6 books, and holds two US Patents.
Frazier is a Fellow of ASM International and a NAVAIR Esteemed Fellow. He previously served as a Trustee of ASM International (2003-2007). He will assume the position of Vice President at the October meeting of ASM International, to take place at the Materials Science & Technology Conference in Columbus, OH. ASM International is a materials professional society “dedicated to informing, educating and connecting the materials community to solve problems and stimulate innovation around the world.”
