Boris Dyatkin Receives DOE Office of Science Graduate Student Research Award

Boris Dyatkin

PhD candidate Boris Dyatkin (advisor: Yury Gogotsi) has received a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) award for the project, “In situ Neutron Scattering Study of the Impact of Surface Defects on Double Layer Capacitance of Porous Carbon,” to be conducted at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) over six months beginning in February 2015. His primary focus will be neutron experimental studies of the effects of functional groups on capacitive/pseudocapacitive electrical energy storage in nanoporous carbons.

SCGSR awards are made in recognition of outstanding academic accomplishments and the merit of the proposed research, and reflect the awardee’s potential to advance his/her PhD studies and make important contributions to the mission of the DOE Office of Science.
