Chau Tran is the recipient of the William A. Casey Memorial Award for excellence in PhD Research in the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department.
Chau is a 5th year PhD student in Prof. Kalra's research lab. His research focuses on study of novel nanofiber-based electrodes for supercapacitors using sophisticated synthesis, structural and electrochemical characterization techniques. He integrates his experimental research with molecular simulations to fundamentally understand the effect of elongational flow, a key characteristic of nanofiber-fabrication technology, on material assembly.
