Biography

Dr. Bahram Nabet received his BS degree with Honors from Purdue University in 1977, and MS and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington in 1985 and 1989 respectively. He joined the faculty of Drexel University in 1989 where he is presently Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and affiliated Professor of Materials Science and Engineering.

Dr. Nabet's research work has led to the development of optoelectronic devices that circumvent limitations of charge transport, i.e., work faster than the travel speed of electrons. His interest in interaction of light and semiconductors in small dimensions has led to the development of nano-structures that absorb and emit light with orders of magnitude more efficiency compared to their bulk counterparts. He is co-author of three books and over 180 refereed publications, and has won 6 Best Professor teaching awards from students as well as a departmental and a university-wide teaching award.

He has been a senior visiting scientist in Brazil and Italy, ASEE Summer Faculty Fellow at the Naval Research Lab in Washington DC, and has been on sabbatical leave at Telcordia Applied Research Inc. and Dexxon Group Inc.
