"Sometimes I think, and sometimes I am."

Atheer al Barqi

“'Sometimes I think, and sometimes I am.' ― Paul Valéry.

This is a realistic quote that explains my thoughts when I decided to quit my job to fight for my dream. I am always the kind of person who is strong, indefatigable and follows the community pattern. I have worked as a software engineer for five years in Saudi Arabia. After I graduated from Princess Nora University with a degree in information systems, I wanted to pursue my dream of helping others with different technology projects in order to serve hospitals and patients.

Throughout my entire life, I have always been intrigued by math and statistics, especially how a simple equation can describe something so complex. My mind has always been fascinated by those phenomena. A whole new world opened up to me when I discovered machine learning (ML). In statistics, probabilistic models are used to describe the world. In machine learning, difficult problems are solved. By combining these disciplines, I'll be able to develop cutting-edge applications for machine learning in a variety of verticals — such as image recognition, medicine or face recognition. This will enhance the speed, precision and effectiveness of human efforts. My ambition is to work at the forefront of technologies using artificial intelligence (AI), with the ability to find innovative solutions to help meet the world's changing needs. I aim to become a highly skilled and successful ML engineer who specializes in designing and building intelligent machines and systems that can learn from experience and perform human-like tasks with little or no human supervision."
